Consultations

The LMC, who is the statutory body established to represents GPs,

We are actively involved in responding to all local and national consultations, particularly where they impact on general practice. It is vitally important that the views of grass roots GPs are listened to and we encourage active participation in these processes by all our members. Glasgow LMC is frequently asked to advise on consultation documents within their remit of being a representative body of GPs in Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

At times we are asked a number of detailed questions about the development , design or delivery of the new proposal or system and this is discussed within the LMC committee who will take a view.

There is much emphasis on moving services out of secondary care into primary care and the LMC is at the heart of all such discussions as part of the ‘Primary Secondary Interface Group and also by involvement in the Clinical Services Review.

We are here to represent the views of grass root General Practitioner in Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

It is the role of the medical Secretariat to communicate that view to the respective parties and ensure that the LMC can achieve a good outcome for all GPs. We also review the key steps needed to implement the changes and how these steps will affect Primary care in terms of work load and the financial stability of Doctors – which is necessary to achieve any successful and sustained service change.
